I get terrible insomnia so I got up in the middle of the night and decided to anoint some candles . We Wiccans anoint candles before we use them on our altars or in rituals and sometimes even spells. Candles are anointed by me rubbing a drop of anointing oil into my hand taking two candles in each hand and moving my hand to the top of the candle then to the bottom on both candles. I then light them and hold them up and say "I anoint you in the name of the god and goddess" and snuff them out (candles must never be blown out always snuffed with either a proper candle snuffer, by turning the candle upside down and stubbing it against a table or other surface, or if necessary your fingers). The candles are then wrapped in white linen and stored away till they are ready to be used, the white candles pictured will be used in purifying rituals and spell.

Always be careful when using candles and do not leave them unattended while burning.

A few months ago someone posted a comment on my blog asking me what a Wiccan was, sorry it's taken me so long to respond, I didn't really know how to best to explain it as it very difficult to explain as there are two types of Wiccans. But it occured to me last night that the Wiccan Rede explains it all really in a better way than any blog article I could come up with would. So for anyone who wonders what we Wiccans are all about here is the Wiccan Rede. If this doesn't answer all your questions please feel free to ask more and I'll try my best to explain.

Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust. Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give. For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out. To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme. Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much. Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again. Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune. Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane. When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two. When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek. Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail. When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast. When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth. When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest. Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow. Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows. Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower. Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland. Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye. Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning. White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility. Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine. Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen. Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be. Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark. As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain. When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows. When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn. As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite. Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all. When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules. In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way. When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight. Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall. Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be. Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know. When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed. With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend. Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart. Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow. Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you. These Eight words the Rede fulfill: "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will.

It's all true too if you actually read the bible you can't deny it, I did for half of my life before I took my Wiccan path. Fellow Pagans and people with open minds will like it, any God Bloggers who want to argue with me over my religious choices can shove it up thier asses! :)

I'm not normally a supporter of charities as I believe many do more harm than good, but one I do heartily support is amnesty international. They are a group of people from all around the world who stand up for peoples human rights and try to protect people wherever injustice and unfairness is going on. They are a group close to my heart as they have successfully campaigned in the to get personal friends of mine released from prison when they were locked up for being involved in a protest.

I've just joined the charity myself and urge anyone else who is interested in protecting human rights and humanity itself to join. Even if you can't afford to make a monthly donation you can still help by signing petitions and attending protests etc. The post title is a link to their website (the current one involved with the protect the human badges). A few weeks ago I told you about a site called 25 Peeps, I've managed to get back on it the picture is of me smoking a bong so it should be obvious which one I am, please click on the page title then on my pic if you like my blog :).

I was deeply saddened this morning to hear of Steve Irwins death, early reports say he was stung by a Stingray, which isn't normally lethal but he was hit right in the chest so this must have caused a heart attack or actually pierced his heart.

I've always followed what he's been doing and had a deep respect for the fearless way he approaches animals with lethal venom, and am struck by the irony he was finally killed by an animal that isn't normally lethal. The post title is a link to the yahoo news story if you'd like more info about the actual event, this post is more of a tribute to him, my heart goes out to his young family and I wish them well for the future.

I've also noticed in my stat counter readings that lots of people have come here looking for pictures of his death, if you are you have come to the wrong place, I would NEVER Post any of these pictures even if they existed because they would break my heart and everyone elses I know on the Isle Of Wight. He was a Legend! If you are here looking for them you are a sick bastard!
