Ryde Carnival Photo's

Here's a slide show out of my photo's from Ryde carnival last Saturday where I wore the King Of Hearts Puppet. There were some problems with it leaning to the left and the head leaning back too far so I'll be going up the Park Centre to have some adjustments made before the illuminated procession as it did my back in a bit.
Apart from that it was good fun and worth the pain to display all the hard work we've done on the puppets this year. My friend Kim Grace who painted the faces has sadly broken her leg so was unable to be in the Carnival, she was going to be wearing the king and I was going to be wearing the knave.
The Illuminated procession is on the 5th of September I'll get more photo's of the other costumes then, I didn't get photo's of The Mad Hatters full costume or the Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit.

Carnival Is Coming Up.

Sorry about the lack of new posts I've been very busy recently doing music theory courses and preparing for Ryde Carnival along with everything else, so I've had little time left to blog. We've made all the puppets on an Alice In Wonderland theme at The Park Centre this year and I now have to wear the King Of Hearts Costume as my friend has badly broken her leg and can't do it (I was going to be the Knave Of Hearts).

Here are some photo's of me when I was trying on the costume and it was being fitted (don't worry I will have a face and arm holes on the night!)

I don't want to post anymore pictures of the costumes in case it spoils the surprise for people who haven't seen them in any of the other carnivals or parades this year. The main carnival is on Saturday 22nd of August and the Illuminated carnival Saturday the 5th September I'll be in both (if I don't get blown away wearing that costume, it goes on for about 3 or 4 foot above my head and the weather is pretty windy at the moment).

The Isle Of Wight Community Renaissance Festival

I've been working on my costume for the Islands first Renaissance festival all day it's actually looking better than I thought it would, I'm making a peasant girl dress as everyone else is doing lady or fairy costumes. My sewing machine has given me a few problems but it seems to be working OK now, it's a really old hand operated singer sewing machine and the bobbin winder has stopped working altogether. I'll be sure to post plenty of pictures of it when it's done.

The renaissance festival is being organised by the "Ryde East Community Association" based at the Park centre in high park road Ryde. I'm doing a workshop there every Wednesday working on this years carnival project too which is an "Alice Wonderland" theme which will be fun this week I'm going to be making giant paper mache flamingo's.

The Renaissance Festival is going to be held on 24th May 2009 at Smallbrook Stadium , we are going to try and make it look like a castle and there will lots of different area's including a market and an enchanted realm, kids kingdom and the Arena where there will music dance and other entertainment. If this one is successful we will try to organise one every year so support it if you can by coming along. To find out more visit the website here.
