My Sunday Blessing-Spring

This week I'm blogging about the spring as Beltane is nearly upon us and we are having an unseasonably warm spring this year. My Wisteria has flowered really well this year we normally only get one flower but this year there are three.

I also bought a rose and have planted it in a pot it's a Cambridge rose so It will have round pink flowers, not looking too impressive yet, but better than when I bought it it came in a bag with no soil.

Hopefully I'll get some flowers later in the year to show you, I've also got some pots of miniature daffodils that have flowered, and am waiting for all my tulips and lilies to flower so I can photograph them. I love this time of year when everything is starting to grow and flower again and you can go outside without suffering the cold.

Sorry I've missed the Sunday Blessing a few times I've been very busy I'll try to remember to do it from now on I can see the blog roll has grown a lot so welcome to all the new participants.

Beltane is coming

Beltane is coming so I’m going to post a few things you can do to celebrate the first day of summer, traditionally celebrations start on the evening of the 30th of April and carry through out the first of May. It’s traditional to light a bonfire on the evening of the 30th April and try to keep it burning until the morning, fire has cleansing properties and rejuvenates the land and people. It’s also traditional to leap over the fire for purification and fertility, but be careful if you want to try this one only attempt it with small fires.

It’s a time of partnership and fertility new couples declare their love for each other on this day and it’s a perfect time to begin new projects. There’s a tradition of going “A-Maying” which is going into the woods to look for Hawthorn flowers (worn by maidens on May Day) staying up all night watching the sun rise and making love in the woods.

The Dew on May Day mornings is said to have magical properties, wash your face and body in it to remain youthful and fair all year, and men who wash their hands in it will be good at tying knots and nets.
I’ll find some rituals and recipes to post over the next couple of days.

Blessed Be.

Boats and boat covers

Living on the Isle Of Wight you see a lot of boats particularly around Cowes week which is having problems this year as their sponsor for years has pulled out, which leads me to this post about Boats and boat covers .
Boat Covers are important to protect the boats when they are not in use and the website Boat Covers advice is great for helping boat owners to choose the right one. They offer custom made covers canvas covers and the amazing sunbrella cover that blocks 98% of UV rays preventing fading of the boat and it never fades itself.

Ivy.

To make up for the lack of posts of a pagan nature I've decided to do a post about The magical properties of Ivy. It's believed to help with healing and protection and protect against negativity and disaster It is carried by women for fidelity and general good luck and woven into wedding wreaths by brides. It is paired with holly so can also be used in love charms.

There's a wonderful page on Ivy here called "The Ivy" that is worth a read it tells you lots about the significance of Ivy In paganism. There's also a wikipedia page about the actual plant Ivy, and I used this page called "Herbal Properties-Kindle the fire".

Sorry I've neglected the blog for a while I've got to do 6 more posts for pay per post before I can transfer it over to another blog and the opportunities open to me are very limited so you may have to put up with a few more off topic posts as I work on my other blog which is here it's called "Under The Ivy" strangely enough, I need to improve it's page ranking so it would help if you could visit it and maybe even link to it if possible I will return the link.

1k Tuesday.

Pay per post have just announced that every Tuesday they are going to post an opportunity worth $1000, which sure sounds good to me if my blog qualifies for them. I’m very happy with pay per post at the moment as I have just received my first payment from them and another two are due any day now so I can confirm they really do pay. I can’t wait to see what the topic of the first 1k post will be and if it’s something I want to write about, as I refuse to sell out this blog and am working on setting up one of my other blogs to also be a pay per post blog so I don’t have to compromise this blogs topic any further.
I have to do six more paid posts on this blog before I can submit another according to pay per posts terms so that will give me some time to improve my other blogs google rank etc so look out for a future post with a link to it.
Pay per post are not letting on when the first 1k post will be released so we’ll just have to wait to see what it will be with baited breath it seems.
